Bajardo
It rises on a rocky relief (910 m) in front of the Ligurian Alps, overlooking the high basin of the Nervia. The medieval village is sheltered on the ridge where a castle was, and perhaps a
Celtic temple (today an extrordinary belvedere). The ruins of the church of San Nicolò, destroyed by the earthquake of 1887, also reveal the remarkable remains of an earlier late-medieval church. The new parish church (1893) preserves a polyptych from 1465. At the entrance of the village you can visit the Manos Gallery (contemporary paintings), a collection of sacred art with the Trasfigurazione polyptych by E. Maccari, frescoes by Carrega, the Sorriso Museum in the old town centre and works by the artist Antonio Rubino.Bajardo is the destination for excursions in the surrounding woods; at Pentecost, the «Ra Barca» historical festival.
